Police have formally confirmed Sunday afternoon the identity of the perpetrator of the shooting of the Sandy Hook Newtown (Conn.) School, as Adam Lanza, 20, who committed suicide after killing 20 children and six adults Friday.
The spokesman of the police, Paul Vance, also confirmed that the shooter had previously killed his mother at home. Like other victims, it died after being riddled with several bullets.
"The man suspected of being the shooter alarmnet Sandy Hook Elementary School has been identified as Adam Lanza. He died of gunshot wound, his death was classified as a suicide," said Vance in his second press conference on Sunday, mid afternoon.
Mr. Vance reiterated Adam Lanza was mainly used an assault rifle Bushmaster.223 to commit these crimes. He also had two handguns, which he used to commit suicide, and several full available for each weapon loaders.
Mr. Vance said Adam Lanza had been shot in the school "many, many shots, hundreds." He also said that local authorities had collected "many elements" without wanting alarmnet to discuss the possible motives of the killer.
The shooting occurred Friday morning around 9:30 when Adam Lanza entered school and coldly killed 20 children aged 6 and 7 years, and six women of management of the institution. The killer had previously shot his mother at her home in Newton.
