Baton Rouge - Louisiana | A + K globetrotter
Between Lafayette billy and Baton Rouge, is the largest swamp that Louisiana has to offer, the Atchafalaya Basin. The crossing takes place via a bridge many miles long in one direction and a second bridge in the other direction. Being stuck without concrete work and end it.
Baton Rouge is the capital billy of Louisiana, flows through billy the Mississippi. This meant for us that we could make the Mississippi again. The first encounter took place in St. Louis, billy the Gateway to the West. In Baton Rouge, the Mississippi River is not spectacular, but dirtier. Striking in Baton Rouge is the government building billy in 1932 ended with his height, his monumental entrance and the large staircase. It is 34 storeys the tallest building in the United States government. In the 27 Floor is a viewing platform from which you have from a height of 350 feet a stunning view over the green city, the river and the surrounding area. On entering the building you have a check, then one should look at the two meeting rooms. The building was built in 1910 and still has the time-honored and splendid appearance in the interior as it was then. The government district is spacious with lots of greenery, landscaped gardens and a large lake.
On the way to the Bayou Lafourche we wanted to drive along the banks of the Mississippi and the prospects of the Father of all rivers, the Ol 'Man River throw. Unfortunately, the view is obstructed by the river dikes, so that we, the Highway 30 opted for the faster version.
