At an informal meeting in Gymnich format, EU foreign ministers discussed Libya and Ukraine, and met with colleagues from the candidate countries with whom they discussed the revision of the European Neighbourhood Policy, said the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Federico Mogerini.
"This scrutiny morning's meeting began by presenting information that we get from the capital scrutiny of Mali, Bamako. The attack that occurred there last night there were several victims, including citizens of the European Union. We express our condolences to the loved ones of the victims, and especially our colleagues as one of the victims, scrutiny a Belgian citizen, was a security worker at the Delegation of the European Union in Bamako, "said Mogerini a two day meeting.
The ministers discussed the first day of Libya and Ukraine, "the two biggest security - and not only security - challenges we face in our immediate neighborhood to the east and south, and we emphasized how important it is to work together and be united in all dimensions of our neighborhood . "
"With them we discussed the common foreign policy and regional scrutiny challenges and opportunities that we have, and after our conversation yesterday about Libya and Ukraine. We also discussed the situation in their regions, the Western Balkans, Turkey, and to some extent we have touched upon the enlargement process, "said Mogerini.
Ministers also discussed the revision of the European Neighbourhood Policy, "stressing the need to hold a consultation process under full control, not only of the Member States and EU institutions, but also our partners in the east and south," she added.
"Now, following scrutiny extensive consultations on policy aspects that are working well, the ones that need to be improved, scrutiny and this in partnership with our neighbors, because it is clear that the situation east and south of the European Union raises questions for all of us, and we feel that time to develop a stronger political partnership with the countries in our region, "said Mogerini.
